Mono/Kultur
Material research, product design
2026
Mono Kultur explored bark and pine resin as design materials, with a particular focus on forestry industry by-products and overlooked material streams. Developed through hands-on experimentation and small-scale prototyping, the project resulted in a bark lampshade and a series of trays cast in pine resin. Using forest industry by-flows as a point of departure, the project investigated how materials often treated as secondary could be translated into functional objects. Rather than concealing irregularity, the work emphasized texture, translucency and natural variation as part of the objects’ expression.
